We offer 2 different types of visit. There are no fixed dates - please ask and we'll work out a package to suit.
1. Beginners / intermediate This is for the keen birder who wants to develop photo skills and techniques. Digital photography offers new ways to learn about and enjoy birds, and as the technology becomes easier and more accessible, an increasing number of people are taking a camera into the field.
2. Experienced photographers who want to spend time in hides. There are excellent hides in the area which we can use. Let us know what you want to photograph and we'll advise. Bear in mind that the use of the hides is demanding in terms of physical effort and patience. The Great Bustard hides are used from late March until early May, and using one means staying there from before sunrise to after sunset. This is to prevent any disturbance to the birds in their lekking areas. An uninterrupted session of 14 hours is very demanding, and the rule is strictly applied. During the spring season there are opportunities for Great and Little Bustard, Roller, Hoopoe, Bee-eater, Lesser Kestrel, Crag Martin and Little Owl. In addition hides for finches, warblers and other passerines are also available. In the hot mid-summer months there are hides located at drinking pools, with opportunities for Great and Little Bustard, Pin-tailed Sandgrouse, Montagu's Harrier, and Collared Pratincole. During the summer season the conditions are different. One day is divided into 2 sessions - 7.00am-11.00am and 5.00pm-9.30pm. This allows photographers to move around different hides with a variety of birds. Please note that for hides booking a minimum of 4 days is required.
